Casa Jiménez de Franchy 1

This stretch of calle de San Francisco demonstrates the architectural wealth of the buildings constructed throughout the seventeenth century. This one in particular, commissioned by Marina Jiménez Fonte del Castillo, was built around 1642 and extended a century later. As it has three windows instead of four, the door is not located on the central axis of the façade, although there is great regularity, typical of that century. The mouldings of the lower windows and upstairs openings denote the mastery of local artisans, which in this case is heightened by four animal carvings in the split pediments. The third floor balcony has a similar layout to that of the adjacent building, creating a unique arrangement that is an evident attraction on this road that is now linked to tourism.
