15 Casa del Doctor Domingo González García

This is an interesting example of local architecture developed in the Canary Islands during the eighteenth century. The property was built at the initiative of José Domingo González Núñez and Antonia Benítez de Lugo y Lugo. There is a symmetry over the two floors evident in the distribution of the openings on the façade that has survived to the present day with little variation. The door frames and windows are decorated with woodwork that dignifies the exterior aesthetic result. Beyond the architectural features, the value of this property is enhanced by the fact that it was the birthplace of two important residents of La Orotava: Jesús González, town mayor, and Domingo González, famous doctor, whose name was give to the side street that joins the Villa de Arriba (Upper Town) with San Francisco. Acurious and characteristic element of the house is the corner post that prevented carriages from rubbing against the building.
