18 Casa Pierres
Built in the first half of the seventeenth century by Dutch merchant Jean Pierres. Its façade facing calle San Juan gives an idea of the age of the building, particularly evident in the uneven distribution of the doors and windows. As one descends the sloping street, the building gains height, and these dimensions are mirrored on the calle Cantillo façade. Undoubtedly the most characteristic elements of the structure are the stonework corner and the corner window, a style based on the Renaissance architecture of mainland Spain. Unlike the example preserved on calle Tomás Zerolo, this is located on a lower floor, given shape by a Tuscan column, with panes of coloured glass.
