2 Casa Benítez de Lugo Viña

There were already records of this building in 1588 as it was part of the property of the estate founded by Francisco Benítez de Lugo y Cabrera. The house is part of a large plot stretching from calle de la Carrera to calle de Los Alfombristas. In the early nineteenth century the engineer José de Betancourt y Castro was commissioned to undertake reforms to completely change the internal structure, which was followed by a further internal reconstruction in the twentieth century, when it was the property of Ana Massieu de las Casas. The current appearance of the façade indicates the importance of neoclassicism, with extensive development in the surrounding architecture.
