Hacienda y ermita de San Felipe 1

Construction of this hacienda began in the third quarter of the seventeenth century by initiative of the cleric Luis Rizzo de Lugo in land of his estate. It is a rural mansion located on the old road that connected the town of La Orotava with Puerto de la Cruz. With the passage of time and the various owners and uses that it has had, the structure has undergone several changes, as evidenced by its current appearance. Highlights include the adjacent chapel dedicated to San Felipe, with an elegant classical stonework doorway with semicircular arch, pillars and triangular pediment. The entablature retains an inscription where the year of its building can still be read: 1665. Its interior is modelled on the traditional private oratory, with an elegant neo-Gothic altarpiece which houses the image of the patron saint. Currently the property is used for various kinds of events.
