6 Casa Ponte Fonte - Casa Lercaro

Casa Ponte Fonte - Casa Lercaro 1

This building was built under the orders of Jerónimo Ponte Fonte y Pagés in the mid-seventeenth century after his marriage to Catalina Grimaldi Rizzo de Lugo. The spacious proportions of the plot allowed new sections to be added, and it today has a unique J-shaped floor plan. The dimensions of the property have allowed it to be put to many uses, including residence, storehouse and tobacco drying facility. The façade is dominated by the symmetry characteristic of the time, and its adaptation to the steep incline of the road determined the arrangement of the façade’s windows and doors, with openings of varying dimensions on the ground floor. Highlights undoubtedly include the sgraffito and the originality of its four balconies, made of wood and iron, each different in its own way.
